Scientists and anti-fascists alike: Don't forget your chant sheet for the #MarchForScience

Saturday, of course, is not only Earth Day but the first-ever March for Science, and while TV host Bill Nye the Science Guy was overseeing things from his position as co-chair, Steve Milloy, editor of JunkScience.com, was keeping an eye on the proceedings from a more skeptical vantage point.

We haven’t yet spotted many signs thanking capitalism for its contribution to our quality of life, but we’ve heard a few chants about fascism mixed in with the science puns. Chanting might be what cultists do, but come on … how many days a year do scientists get to march the streets in their lab coats and use bullhorns like all the other protest groups do? Let’s cut ’em a bit of slack.

Of course, plenty of revolutionaries turned out to make sure that they were represented at the March for Science; after all, even the least informed anti-fascist knows that the scientific method is under attack.

These gals in downtown Los Angeles decided to leave the white coats back in the lab and go with coordinated T-shirts instead.
