The West Covina Police Department said in a statement that it released video of a suspect being tackled by an officer “to show the suspect’s threatening actions prior to being taken into custody.” That’s almost certainly true, but they couldn’t be blamed for wanting to release the footage just because it’s really, really cool.

Christopher Rivas, 28, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest after walking up to the police station with a baseball bat Monday morning and swinging at the windows, sending three women who were just inside the glass running for cover.
One officer who was outside the station saw what was happening and went for the low tackle.

Excellent form. Got low, shoulders squared up through the midsection & exploded through impact. Someone get him an NFL contract

Am impressive as the tackle was, people weren’t as blown away by the suspect’s batting technique — hopefully part of his sentence will be to read all the tweets written about him.

he was knocking with the bat. Not too threatening. But it was a good tackle.

Batter: good hand movement… needs a little bit higher of a lead leg kick though! 7/10
Tackler: perfect form! 10/10

Notice he has a nice level swing.

@AlexMinnick24 not a bad swing actually. Good hand path through the zone but could work on his extension in his follow through

: I have never seen anyone less serious about doing damage with a baseball bat. Form is good; execution weak.

Spring Training is here. Needs to work on his swing
