But seriously, folks … even conservatives on social media have been trying to get the media to take a hint: Donald Trump is going to screw up bigly somewhere along the line, so for the sake of credibility, maybe hold back just a little bit until he does? Hold something in reserve?
Or, just keep going for scorched earth.
Me: Maybe the media shouldn't panic every time Trump acts like Trump

The Hill passed along a report by CNN that Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, will set up an office in the White House that is usually reserved for the first lady; Melania Trump plans to live in New York City until son Barron finishes the school year.
Via @SaraMurray: Ivanka Trump to get office in same space reserved for First Lady in WH; Ivanka's title still TBD, per transition source

That sounded innocent enough to us, but Julia Ioffe, a columnist at Foreign Policy, instead presented it as an either/or scenario that was anything but innocent.

Either Trump is fucking his daughter or he's shirking nepotism laws. Which is worse? https://t.co/0Fo8vDKcDC

Considering Trump hasn’t even taken the oath of office yet, this is just going to get worse, isn’t it? We honestly don’t know how, and we don’t want to find out. Again, “real news” outlets allegedly pay this person to write about politics.

.@juliaioffe This is for verbal, in private company, when drunk. Not in writing, in public, while nominally sober.

Media continues to handle the transition period with poise and grace. Going to be a long, long, long four years. https://t.co/PSoc54HzWU

@RobProvince @TBCJay The Left never put parameters on it. They wanted to claim it for Chelsea Clinton this year, for instance.

Update:
A swing and a miss …
We have a president-elect who popularized "saying what everyone is thinking," but I guess my phrasing should've been more delicate.
— Julia Ioffe (@juliaioffe) December 14, 2016
So … “everyone” who read that story in The Hill was thinking about incest, but it’s Trump’s fault that Ioffe came out and said it? Who wants to tell Billy Bush his phrasing was just indelicate and he can have his job back?
I take back what I said about Ivanka and just let her father, our president, speak for me. https://t.co/54EccT5Jai

Update:
It looks like Ioffe was planning on taking her talents to The Atlantic anyway, so Politico has gone ahead and “accelerated the close” of her contributor contract.
This tweet is "an obvious violation of POLITICO standards. Julia Ioffe is no longer with the publication.”https://t.co/rWWKBoWNvR
