Neil deGrasse Tyson, America’s favorite astrophysicist, decided for some reason last week to apply his vast intellect to analysis of the Olympic Games, concluding that Hungary was “kicking our ass” in Rio when adjusting for relative population — which makes no sense, seeing as the entire populations of America and Hungary aren’t exactly going at it in the pool simultaneously.
The USA has 3x as many Olympic golds as Hungary, but 30x the population. Adjusting for this, Hungary is kicking our ass.

If there was a point to his tweet somewhere out there, no one seemed to have a telescope large enough to find it. CNN’s Jake Tapper, though, gave deGrasse Tyson a much needed perspective on Earth and how things work here.
This *might* make sense if so many people didn't leave countries such as Hungary to become Americans. https://t.co/r0lbnAaBWE

@baseballcrank @neiltyson I nominate Jake for America's rep. in MSM olympic jousting. Well played, sir.

Q: How many black astrophysicists does Hungary have?
I rest my case.
