As everyone expected, Gov. John Kasich used his 5 p.m. press conference in Columbus to announce that he was suspending his campaign.

Kasich: I have deeper faith … that the Lord will show me the way forward and fulfill the purpose of my life."

Reactions to his speech ranged from “gracious” to “agonizing” to audible snoring.
#Kasich withdrawal speech dramatic contrast to #Cruz last night. Very gracious. #Elections2016

Very impressive and gracious speech by Kasich. Too bad he wasn't more popular.
— Evan Krueger (@thereal_evank) May 4, 2016
Kasich was gracious in his withdrawal speech. Didn't say much about his fellow candidates, though, including that one guy.
— Steve Fought (@stevenfought) May 4, 2016
John Kasich gave a gracious, meaningful statement. He was the 1 Republican I could have voted for.
— mike t. (@parrotheadmiket) May 4, 2016
Well, if Kasich ends up on the Republican ticket as Donald Trump’s running-mate, you’ll still be able to vote for him, albeit by pulling the lever for Trump.
Others, such as Dana Loesch, found Kasich’s exit somewhat less than gracious.
"This Kasich speech is going to be one for the ages."
Said no one.

Way to milk it Kasich.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) May 4, 2016

— Adam Easterling (@_adeast1) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch his 15 minutes was up long ago
— Gregory Lia (@g4734g) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch he's even MORE boring quitting than he was running fourth in a three man race.
— Isaiah's Watchmen (@CheckSixVa) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch Sheez. He is like 3 months late with this agonizing speech.
— Angie Vallejo (@vallejo_angie) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch I think John Kasich is trying to filibuster the election.
— James Clarke (@jcemt72) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch He hasn't figured out that nobody cares about him…..what an ego……
— Mark Kahn (@MarkKahnWI) May 4, 2016
Pretty harsh … why all of the hard feelings?
Kasich's mission accomplished https://t.co/Lo8BgfiKf2
— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch If he would of done this 2 months ago Cruz would be the nominee!
— Eric Poague (@edwardjones94) May 4, 2016
.@DLoesch
Kasich stayed in to hurt Cruz for Trump & now is (possibly) getting his payback#Spoiler— Ex-GOP Shari (@jdhlsc169) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch there is a fix in the hen house I think.
— Bob Franklin (@willisvillebob) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch The guy, and his weird tick, need to just go away. He's a slimy, calculating liar who only wanted to divide the anti-Trump movement
— Red River Review (@JordanNick7) May 4, 2016
@DLoesch now that he took out Cruz he is in hog heaven. That's why he wouldn't drop out.
— Honey Badger Temper (@jsentoch) May 4, 2016
