As Twitchy and many other sources noted following Saturday night’s Republican debate in South Carolina, things started out tame but got ugly when candidates started accusing each other of being liars. The dam broke when Donald Trump gestured to Sen. Ted Cruz and said, “You probably are worse than Jeb Bush. You are single biggest liar,” adding later for good measure, “He’s a nasty guy.”
Cruz quickly countered with a reference to Trump’s support of taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and argued, “Donald has this weird pattern, when you point to his own record he screams, ‘liar, liar, liar.'”
According to our tally, including Saturday's debate and today, Trump's called Cruz a liar 52 times.

MSNBC’s Christopher Hayes tweets that he’s been keeping track, and claims that between Saturday’s debate and Monday’s campaign rallies, Trump has called Cruz a liar 52 times.
@chrislhayes Chris that is because he has lied 52 times since Saturday.

@chrislhayes doesn't that just edge out the number of times Bernie said "black"?
— Shelly??? (@mdp919) February 16, 2016
@chrislhayes that's a lot of "liar" for two people who aren't getting a divorce 😉
— ProfB (@AntheaButler) February 16, 2016
@chrislhayes If @realDonaldTrump keeps saying it enough times, it might just become "partly true" as he is Great and can make it "true"

Jeb Bush jumped into the fray Saturday as well, bringing up Trump going bankrupt. “It’s another lie. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Just a lie,” Trump responded.
@chrislhayes is there an over/under on number of accusations before #SuperTuesday?
— John Webb (@DaWorldWideWebb) February 16, 2016
@chrislhayes I am surprised that no one has said anything about Trump telling Jeb to be quiet! That was amazing.

"The Second Amendment is my whole thing" — @realDonaldTrump earlier.
