With about 30 percent of the results in in Iowa, Hillary Clinton looks to have a healthy 52—48 lead over Bernie Sanders. That suggests an older crowd has showed up to caucus, as entrance polls showed as many as 91 percent of those under 30 declaring their support for Sanders.

On the other side of the pendulum, Hillary Clinton just can’t seem to secure the support of young feminists, no matter how many pop singers and celebrities she can talk into campaigning for her.

I think my generation (x) is more responsible for this Free Shit Generation, we are the last of the personal responsibility believers and we raised soft-bellied kids.

        • Crakalakin

Yep. Our generation raised the SJW campus crybaby Free Shit Army. My only child is but 7. I’m trying to learn from my generation’s shortcoming in child-rearing.

Ultimately I think our generation was so self-involved they left the work of raising the kids to the schools and Internet as they continued to go to concerts, play video games and otherwise try to hold on to adolescence as long as possible. “30 is the new 20!” “40 is the new 30!”

Are you kidding? You guys were great parents. Boomers raised generation X and we weren’t entitled or had the world bend to our demands. We had personal responsibility and were held accountable for our actions. It’s Gen X that failed in the raising of their kids. It’s so baffling how my generation was raised so well and yet, when it came to their own kids…they threw out all the rules.

          • TexSizzle

    • JosephBloughs ✓Viagrafied

Don’t sweat it. It’s not a matter of generation, it’s a matter of intelligence. Your generation has mostly been sold a fraudulent bill of goods by people in positions of authority who they had a reasonable expectation to trust. That’s not undone or overcome easily, especially for the weak minded.

It’ll probably be your cross to bear in life to be sharper than they are on these things, because people like you will often have to explain to them the facts of life. They’ll come around eventually (may take decades), but even then they might still not completely get it. But as time starts proving you right, they’ll grudgingly give you more respect (and by time I mean in real time during these peoples’ lives, because they have no concept of history and nothing of importance ever happened before their lifetimes). So start spreading your wealth of knowledge now (and explain it to them that way, they’ll appreciate you putting it like that, you’ll speak their redistributionist language). It’s not likely to produce any immediate results, but it is a long term investment in all our futures.

It’s close enough to believe any of the three could take it, will be an interesting evening. If Cruz isn’t nominated, I could swallow the bile in the back of my throat and vote for Trump. But Rubio? Never.

        • Karla1953

Like I said I knew that was not a positive for you(I pay attention LOL). I am the opposite I could vote for Rubio or Cruz but Trump…………..I would have to soul search and bargain a lot. But to each his own 🙂

          • Michelle ✓classified

I don’t dislike Rubio, it’s just that I truly believe he’d seriously cave on the illegal immigration issue in it’s entirety and well, that’s a HUGE issue for me as a Los Angeles resident. Cruz is quite serious about securing that border, quite serious. It’s already a law that it be secured, he will enforce those laws. I trust Trump would do the same, but his ego needs a backhand across the face. I could live with any of them being POTUS, I’m just hoping for one that is firmly serious about the entire illegal immigration nightmare.

          • Karla1953

Well as a FL resident living in a County with a 54% Hispanic population it is different for me as that is mostly Hispanics from PR who also are not keen on illegals, etc so the dynamic is different and they also helped elect Rubio. I am skeptical at times of him but for me anyone but HRC………………….although I am serious Trump worries me. However I know that I could overcome that I have over come worse……………..j/s

That quote gets miss-attributed and rearranged quite a bit. A similar quotes appears attributed to Alexis Tocqueville. It seems the origin of it, however is a 1951 quote by Elmer Peterson, which incidentally is exactly correct.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.”

Sorry, the young don’t shift much electorally, because they don’t vote much.

Now this is a Presidential election; so maybe 40% will vote, not the 20% that manage in off elections.

When the 45+ vote is closer to 60-70% you need a LOT of youngsters to make up any losses with the “youth vote”.
