As campaigning reaches a fever pitch in Iowa tonight, it’s doubtful that anyone has even checked The Hill to learn that Jimmy McMillan, founder of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party, has announced he’s throwing his support behind real-estate developer Donald Trump.

McMillan explained that of all the candidates, Trump is “the only one who is supporting my brother veterans, which is good enough for me.”

  • Gloves M. Donahue

    You could move.

    • NRPax

No fair pointing out the easy solution.

    • Perso Nasplit

why when you can mandate that rent can only be a certain amount, perhaps based off your means, and given to you based off your needs by a benevolent government?

      • CoastalMaineBird

From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need.

Has a nice ring to it, dontcha think ?

        • rogleecam

Adequate cover for douchebag losers. But hardly an incentive for upward mobility.

          • Aparition42

When you’re at the top, “upward mobility” just means the rabble are getting closer.

          • rogleecam

I have no idea what you are trying to say with that comment. The beauty of the American system is that anybody can achieve success if they apply themselves to that end. Ben Carson is a wonderful example of the system’s validity. You can achieve any level that you WORK for, and not necessarily the one desire.

          • Aparition42

The problem with written communication is the difficulty in conveying tone. I was speaking sardonically in the voice of the progressive liberal elitists. My point is that they don’t want to encourage upward mobility. The lack of motivational forces in a socialist oligarchy isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.

        • Perso Nasplit

Sounds totally “fair”. I dont see any reason why the people would simply stop working hard.

    Politics vs Circus.

    What’s the difference?

    • Karl H

At the circus the dung is on the ground, in politics it wears a suit.

      • DeplorableMessMan ✔ JesseMessy

That’s right, Karl-H: make this about “politicians” whereas it’s actually about the freakshow called Trumpmania. What a deep-thinker. /s

        • Karl H

So Trump is the problem? Sure if not for Trump Mitch McConnell would embrace conservative values and Lindsey Graham would run as a libertarian, John McCain would filibuster for a balanced budget and puppies and kitten’s would learn water ballet.

It seems the issue is conservative voters, they elect the dung.

          • DeplorableMessMan ✔ JesseMessy

WhoTF was talking about McConnel & McCain. Sheez, Karl…Still got this “bunker-mentality” that Trump is your savior from the boogeyman-GOPe (YAWn), huh? Trump’s done & said NOTHING to prove he’s anything like teh AntiEastab-refermor that Ted Cruz, because DT can’t articulate conservatism worth SPIT no matter how much he memorizes Cruz-speeches. Trump is a pandering populist being passed off by you folks (preening IndyCons) as “conservative, and since you keep falling for your own disinformation, it’s incredible of you (as in literally “NOT credible”) to keep regurgitating “b-b-b-b-b-but GOPe!!!” (YAWn

          • Karl H

Where the hell did you get the idea that I support Trump? No bunker mentality here.

Trump however is doing well because so many so called conservative voters have been sending RINOs to Washington for decades amd expecting them to vote conservative.

Name 5 Republicans in office right now that vote Conservative more than 75% of the time.

Now name 5 Democrats that vote liberal less than 90% of the time.

Do you see why Republican voters are mocked and reduced to the level of slack jawed yokels. If your business partner ripped you of 25% of the time I doubt you would take it, but if someone says they are conservtive and asks voters to lube up and grab their ankles they line right up, even for an obvious liberal democrat like trump.

          • Deplorable Jesse-Messy Hammer

…I love it when you people regurgitate Trump’s talking-points and then (when confronted by someone who recognizes those talking-points) you say “b-b-b-b-b-but I’m not a Trump-supporter”. If you aren’t a Trumpeter, then stop talking like one; there’s already BEEN a candidate in the race (since 3 months before Trump started mimicking him), and THAT real-deal conserve (TED CRUZ) is whom I support.

Those liberals aren’t running for POTUS, and certainly not on a Republican ticket. Apples and oranges. Trump has been very skimpy on vet donations in the past. That’s something you can look up yourself. Vets are now props, not just for Trump, but for many other candidates. We can see it, you cannot.

          • Ferd

Sure I see it. I even stated as much. They ALL do it.
So why should this be more of an issue?

            Edit to add…

Those liberals aren’t running for POTUS,

Are you implying/stating that none of the liberals running for POTUS has donated to vets to the extent Trump has?

He has indeed donated and helped vets out in the past, before he even thought of running for POTUS. Look it up, it is easy to find.

          • maggieinWY

Read again. Liberals not running as Republicans are the apples. Liberals running as Republicans – that would be Trump – is the orange.

Trump scored this endorsement by threatening to raise the guy’s rent even higher.

Pretty sure Trump wasn’t helping vets by using them as political props and by having all donated money go directly to his foundation.

    • vetgal1970

As a Veteran myself I have to say, it’s pretty much ticking me off. Now they are going around acting like he did something holy and the other candidates/FOX are somehow uncaring of Veterans because they attended the pre arranged debate. ‘But he helped Veterans’ they gush, like we are some kind of human shield to protect him from any criticism. So they believe that Veterans need this money (otherwise they wouldn’t have a group), but they’re willing to sacrifice whatever good they could do for those veterans for the sake of their own political viewpoints?

Sounds to me like they’re protesting a political stunt by pulling their own political stunt. I wonder how refusing money raised by Trump, which they probably weren’t expecting to be offered anyway, will affect the donations they receive from other sources.

I bet he can’t afford living in Trump tower.

  • Bruce

Still a better endorsement than Glenn Beck.

  • SouthTexas

You have to raise the rent because the government keeps raising taxes!

I have to wonder whatever possessed the man to sculpt his facial hair like a show poodle’s haircut. The poodles have little to no say in the matter, but this guy chose to do it.

  • The_Kat ✓vilified

I was wondering what happened to Jimmy McMillan. I guess his rent was just right since he has been so quiet lately. Maybe he thinks Trump will be too busy governing when elected to steal property through eminent domain and build luxury properties with outrageous rents.

  • Jake Wilde

Has Trump done anything altruistically that he hasn’t announced with fanfare? Also, why does he have a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star?

    • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

He bought that Star fair and square. Paid top dollar too.

Americans working for A LIVING can’t afford to pa their mortgage, but they do , keeping good credit. Free stuff people could care less, they don’t need credit . Just working people ‘s money.

There sure are a lot of people here begrudging Donald Trump’s fortuitous and profitable successes won in his hardworking life. Yet, even

Using a totally and completely contrived and scripted fantasy to refute a totally and completely irrefutable reality is quite the desperate stretch.
        Don’t you think…?

          No.

When I was in the military, we had a little song we sang when we’d take the new boots out for drinks and grub, and made them pay for it all. Went a little something like this…

Shìt for brains, mother-f***er, every day is born a sucker.

I forgot the rest of the verse, but suffice it to say, that first line is true.

However, whether you support DJ Trump or not, he’s the man. At least for now. That’s also true. So, you know, maybe he might be a little more palatable than a Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders president to you and others at some point in the future.

  • Cärlös Dängër ✓certifiable

Trump would gentrify the crap out of Jimmy McMillan’s neighborhood to the extent that no one but *real* supporters could ever live there.

Wouldn’t a “Rent is too durned high party” necessarily be a liberal or leftist Demo-rat party?

Now take a good look at him and ask yourself, “Seriously, would I trust an endorsement from that guy?”
