President Obama covered a lot of ground today during his announcement of new executive actions which he believes will reduce gun violence in America, even if some of those steps already exist as law. One of the president’s claims today that drew the attention of PolitiFact was his statement that “a violent felon can buy [a gun] over the Internet with no background check, no questions asked” — a claim PolitiFact rated as “Mostly True” while ignoring the flames shooting from the back of the all-wise Truth-O-Meter.
Regular media already botch gun issues badly, so you would expect PolitiFact to be bad… but wow. This is bad. https://t.co/U66kk62dWc

@Heminator Sure they can. They can buy them from an illegal arms dealer. Oh….

So you’re saying they could, but it would be criminal to do so. Maybe if more violent felons knew it was a crime, they’d stop it and buy their guns legally.
@Heminator smart for politifact not to host a comments section

@Heminator @PolitiFact Dear goodness. Most tortured response since kid tried to explain chocolate on her shirt wasn't actually chocolate

@Heminator I also heard that people can engage in PROSTITUTION over the internet! No questions asked!

@Heminator @PolitiFact PolitiNotFact is once again way off. This is like saying "someone can just walk into a bank and rob it."

Holy cow this is embarrassing. Not just for the gun stuff, but for the "Obama said it so we rate it true" mindset. https://t.co/WAcHHKU4kA
— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) January 6, 2016
@SethAMandel @Slublog he made the thing that was already illegal more illegal, or something. So, TRUE!

@Heminator My head is going to explode! They said "online" a zillion times without saying that it has to happen in person, NOT SHIPPED!

This is insane. I knew Politifact was a hack organization, but this takes it to a ridiculous level. https://t.co/q1NA6cRzqV
