President Obama once told an interviewer that the Muslim call to prayer was “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth.” The F-16 makes one of the coolest sounds on Earth, but it would seem unlikely anyone could mix up the two. Nevertheless, a family in Whatcom County, Wash., got quite the Christmas surprise when they fired up their son’s toy jet and it started making what sounded like an Islamic prayer.

It’s worth a visit to the KING 5 website to see footage of the plane in action. The sound the plane makes isn’t like an Islamic prayer; it is an Islamic prayer. Nadeem Israr, president of the Islamic Society of Whatcom County, explained to KING 5 that the sound is a prayer Muslims say during the Hajj, or the pilgrimage to Mecca.
The plane is still available on Amazon, although there’s no guarantee which version you’ll receive: the one that makes “real noises just like a jet” or the one that emits “very loud Middle Eastern chanting and music.”
