Fox News host and author Greg Gutfeld was busy on Twitter last night as news emerged about the magnitude of the terrorist attacks that killed and injured hundreds in Paris, imploring celebrities to “stop tweeting sketches of the Eiffel Tower as part of a peace sign. You’re idiots.”
Gutfeld has picked up on his rant this afternoon. We’ve seen plenty of #PrayForParis tweets making the rounds, but we fear what official hashtag the State Department will deploy in response to the latest atrocity perpetrated by the Islamic State. Will a frowning first lady hold up a #JeSuisParis sign on Instagram? Both #BringBackOurGirls and #UnitedForUkraine proved so powerful.
Short term platitudes inevitably burn out like cheap candles at a makeshift shrine. What part of "never forget," did we forget?

@greggutfeld We The People who have common sense, do *not* forget; the incompetent leaders are the ones who egregiously fail to protect us.

Peace signs, like pacifism, are imposters for action – pleasing the enemy, who see fear in symbolic, rather than real, response.

We humans count on not being targeted – statistically accurate, for now – but morally wrong and inevitably foolish as terror advances.

Terrorists are always one step ahead because they don't stop working. We advance their goals when we demonize our own efforts to track them.

When people leave for awful places for mysterious reasons, only to return – why do we leave the light on for them?

With sleeper cells and exported operatives alive and well in the west, will Hollywood adjust the ending of their valentine to Snowden?

Are we talking about the same Hollywood that made a movie about Dan Rather called “Truth”?
Terror change – the yearly advancement in terror – should require the same concern Obama shows for incremental increases in celsius.

Advancement in terror? But the president just assured us the threat from the JV team was contained.
#MTVStars is top US trend. Never forget indeed.
