Earlier this month, Twitter rolled out a new feature called “Moments” that supposedly allows users to “find the best of Twitter in an instant.” One of today’s Twitter Moments is “Democrats react to Paul Ryan’s election as House speaker.”
Not every tweet is negative (there’s one congratulations), but considering this Moment covers the Democrat reaction, featured contributors include Lizz Winstead, the DCCC, the DSCC, Salon, Donna Brazile, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Democrat Party itself, and Representatives Diana DeGette, Louise Slaughter, Keith Ellison, and more who voted for Nancy Pelosi to succeed John Boehner.
Did the @DSCC pay @twitter to place this as an ad in @TwitterMoments? It's the lead item! https://t.co/T1VnIQDf3P

Of course the Democrats didn’t pay for this “ad,” because it’s hard news content provided by a legitimate news organization.
@jonward11 @maggieNYT No, paid ads are marked as "Promoted" on Twitter. This piece was produced by one of our partners: MSNBC.

That explains so very, very much. So it’s a free advertisement.
@magicandrew @maggieNYT hard to call that a "piece" in any sense of the word – just one political party's talking points.

Good question. It was produced by #Democrat party media partner #MSNBC @jonward11 @maggieNYT @dscc @twitter @TwitterMoments
