The Obamas have wrapped up their two-week vacation on Martha’s Vineyard — we know this because it was the news story of the morning. And we thought the release of President Obama’s official vacation Spotify playlist was big news.

The big news sources have reported that between dad’s rounds of golf, the Obamas took a trip to a private beach. Since it was a private beach, there are no photos, sadly. Instead, we’ll have to rely on the reporting of the Cape Cod Daily News and use our imaginations.

It was a beach day of presidential proportions.
Perhaps Barack Obama built a White House sandcastle. Or maybe Michelle saw seashells down by the seashore.
The first family spent about five hours at a private beach with friends in Edgartown Thursday, White House officials told pool reporters. It was not revealed who hosted the commander in chief as he soaked in the rays and waves.
Sunny skies ruled the day, so it’s a good bet Obama brought some super sunblock with a presidential SPF of 100 or more. Nobody wants a burnt leader.
There were no photo opportunities but just imagine the president under an umbrella reading his Kindle and eating Pringles!

No photo opportunities! We’ll have to settle for this photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin piloting a research submarine in search of a wrecked ship.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Vladimir Putin “climbed into a three-seat submersible craft to check out an ancient sunken ship found recently in the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea — the peninsula annexed by Russia last year from Ukraine.”
Annexed by Russia last year? Then what was the point of former State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki holding up that #UnitedForUkraine sign on Twitter? Maybe the hope that Russia would “live by the power of hashtag” was just that — hope.
Now that President Obama is rested and refreshed, maybe he’ll get back on that whole Ukraine thing.
