Presidential material or not, Donald Trump has been making deals long enough to know that when negotiations go bad, each party will have his own story. When it leaked recently that Trump had fired campaign adviser Roger Stone, Washington Post reporter Robert Costa noted that “Trump acknowledged that Stone may offer a different take on how this all went down.”
It didn’t take long for Stone to pop up on Twitter to insist he resigned from the Trump campaign over distractions from the core message, such as the “food fight” with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.
Costa also said Stone and Trump reached out to the Washington Post to set the record straight.
Some congratulated Stone, while others ridiculed him for walking away from the campaign’s frontrunner.
