Alexander Ciccolo, the 23-year-old who was arrested on gun charges and found to have possible bomb-making equipment in his Massachusetts apartment, was in court today for a detention hearing. As Twitchy reported, Ciccolo, the estranged son of a Boston police captain, recently converted to Islam and now goes by the name Abu Ali al-Amriki.

WCBV reports that Ciccolo told an FBI informant he intended to travel to another state and use pressure cooker bombs in attacks on civilians, the military and law enforcement, but changed his mind and decided to target an unspecified university “because there were many more people.”

In court, Ciccolo, who told the FBI he was “inspired” by the Boston Marathon bombing, made no secret of his ideological ties with ISIS.
