As Twitchy reported earlier, Cpl. Eric Casebolt, the McKinney Police Department officer who was the subject of protests after video of his actions at a pool party went viral, announced through a lawyer today that he had resigned from the force. McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley held a 5:30 p.m. press conference to address Casebolt’s resignation.
Far from defending Casebolt, Conley said that Casebolt had been “out of control” from the start of the incident and was the only one of 12 officers at the scene whose actions were not only wrong but “indefensible.”
The city’s mayor also delivered a brief statement.
The ability to keep his pension was cited often by those activists who were determined that Casebolt’s resignation was merely “Step 1” and were still demanding his arrest.
