A lot of us would have preferred that, but not surprisingly, Loretta Lynch was confirmed as U.S. attorney general by a 56–43 vote this afternoon.
The Loretta Lynch confirmation vote was 56-43. Ted Cruz was the only Senator not to vote

Joining Democrats to confirm Lynch were 10 Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey Graham.

GOP-controlled Senate confirms Lynch — proving that Republicans campaign as conservative – but govern as Democrats.

Senators Graham and Ayotte were among the 10 Republicans who voted to confirm Lynch. McCain, who generally works with them, was not.

Lindsey Graham says "presidents should have latitude in picking nominees for their Cabinet, and Ms. Lynch is well-qualified for the job."

Lindsey @GrahamBlog's tendency to put exclamation points in his press releases makes me think he's super excited about Lynch confirmation
— Seung Min Kim (@seungminkim) April 23, 2015
For his part, Graham was in a tweeting mood after the confirmation, seemingly anxious to explain his vote to confirm Lynch by emphasizing the “bright side.” For one, Lynch isn’t Eric Holder. Very similar, perhaps, but not the same.

The best thing for the country is to have a new Attorney General and close the book on Eric Holder.

@GrahamBlog No, the best thing would be to have the BEST candidate in office not one who is the result of a Reid under the table deal.

@GrahamBlog Who's side are you on, Sen. Graham? By affirming Lynch you committed to furthering Obama's agenda. Wake up!!

@GrahamBlog No Senator Graham, the best thing our country can do is find GOP Sens. who will stand up for conservatives. You're not one.
— AWR Hawkins (@AWRHawkins) April 23, 2015
Well, that explanation didn’t fly with conservatives. How about this one?
My goal is to have GOP president nominate the next Attorney General so we will not be forced to choose between Eric Holder & Loretta Lynch.
— Lindsey Graham (@GrahamBlog) April 23, 2015
Noted: Lindsey Graham is hoping for a Republican president. That’s something.
