An angry Sen. Bob Menendez, arriving around 20 minutes behind schedule, held a brief and very ragged press conference Friday evening during which he denied charges of corruption. Between the microphone cutting out and the assembled reporters’ chat leaking into the audio feed, it was a bizarre experience.

Menendez did arrive eventually and immediately began listing his accomplishments, from responding to Superstorm Sandy to working to ensure that Iran doesn’t acquire a nuclear weapon. He then attempted to repeat his statement in Spanish, though he was interrupted when someone mistakenly turned off his microphone.

Menendez didn’t stay long and took no questions. In short, he insists he’s not going anywhere.
