National Security Adviser Susan Rice, who has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s acceptance of an invitation to address Congress was “destructive” to the fabric of the relationship between the United States and Israel, herself addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference Monday evening.

The highlight of her speech was undoubtedly the standing ovation she received for acknowledging the desire for a complete halt to Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. The look on her face while waiting for the cheers to die down so she could add “but” and finish her sentence: priceless.

Aside from that gem, Rice’s speech was panned widely by reporters, many who thought Rice was trying a bit too hard to relate to the audience and smooth over comments made by both her and the president, such as his mention of the “random” shooting by an Islamic terrorist of “a bunch of folks” in that deli in Paris.
