Despite being the junior senator from Texas, Ted Cruz has never been shy about taking on the president, the Democrats, and even other Republicans. That fighting spirit made him a hugely popular figure at Saturday’s Iowa Freedom Summit, where raucous applause began even before he took the stage.
Cruz made it clear from the start he wasn’t going to abide by the administration’s speech code on “violent extremism.”
He also took a shot at President Obama’s executive amnesty and those who did nothing to oppose it.
Surprisingly, in a field of potential candidates like Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee, Cruz’ address in particular was filled with personal religious statements.
It’s safe to say Cruz’ appearance went over well in Iowa.
