Here’s some very disturbing news out of the Bevo Mill neighborhood of St. Louis, where just a week ago 32-year-old Zemir Begic was beaten to death in a hammer attack allegedly perpetrated by four teen suspects, three of whom are in custody.
Doug Moore of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police are investigating as a hate crime an assault on a 26-year-old Bosnian woman Friday morning by three black males in their teens or early 20s who walked in front of her vehicle. According to the police report:
When the woman attempted to drive around the young men, at least one of them pulled a gun and ordered her to stop her vehicle, which she did. One of the men struck the windshield with an object police said could have been a crowbar. The woman was pulled from the vehicle while another of the men opened the passenger door and went through the woman’s purse, stating it was empty. One of the men threw her cellphone to the ground and stomped on it.
At some point, one of the men asked where the woman was from. She said she was European.
“You’re a (expletive) liar. You’re Bosnian. I should just kill you now,” Dotson said of the woman’s account.
St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay praised police for their quick action in the Begic case, and suggested that that attack was neither related to the nearby Ferguson protests, nor was it racially motivated. A video shot by a neighborhood resident suggests that the attackers shouted, “Kill the white people,” though that hasn’t been confirmed.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson has declared this most recent attack a hate crime and called in the FBI to help investigate.
@Bookwormdearlor @nickpistor hopefully some of the light from this investigation spills over to the man who was killed last week

So much for sympathy. Excuse St. Louis American managing editor Chris King for a moment.
Crimes seem to get investigated as hate crimes faster in STL when the alleged haters are black. Going to go puke now.

Deflecting from the real problem by destabilizing Bosnian-Af American trust may help you now but you're creating a bigger problem for later.
