Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky continued over the weekend to live the minimum wage challenge, during which politicians limit their food expenses to $77 a week ($290 a week income at $7.25 an hour less $176.48 for housing and $35.06 for taxes).
Over the weekend I continued on the #LiveTheWage challenge. Mornings I had cereal & banana, for lunch I had tuna salad sandwich.

@janschakowsky Boo hoo. Sounds like what I eat every day by choice. Not everyone gets to eat out at fancy restaurants every day or wants to.

#LiveTheWage just gives me a glimpse into the life of a low wage worker. Point is $7.25 isn't enough to live on. We must #RaiseTheWage!

@janschakowsky @RepTimRyan @Ted_Strickland Nothing but RESPECT for you all choosing to #LiveTheWage. We're tired of inaction in Congress!

Hold off on that respect for former Ohio governor Ted Strickland; he didn’t make it. He lived, that is; he just couldn’t finish the challenge.
