The National September 11 Memorial Museum is now open, but not without controversy. Some were struck by the $24 admission fee, others by the no photography policy, and others by the existence of a museum gift shop. And speaking of the gift shop, consensus seems to be that the commemorative 9/11 cheese plate on offer is about a cheesy at it gets.

There's cheesy and then there's plain crass. Guess which category the 9/11 cheese plate falls under? http://t.co/VjZM65U8oE via @Gothamist

How does one explain selling a 9/11 souvenir cheese plate at the Sept. 11 memorial?: http://t.co/4lxIC6ne27

Well, I wasn’t able to go in the 9/11 Museum when I visited Tuesday, so I didn’t see the cheese plate myself. Thank god. How can this exist?

Perhaps the museum can sell a 9/11 sorbet dish. You'll need a palate cleanser for the bad taste a 9/11 cheese plate will leave in your mouth

@BuzzFeedAndrew @jopiazza The idea of a gift shop-let alone a 9/11 cheese plate-is just plain vulgar, crass and embarrassing. Lord help us.

The existence of a 9/11 Museum gift shop is debatable, but it should definitely not sell a memorial cheese plate. That's tacky as shit.

How does one even conceive of a 9/11 cheese plate? http://t.co/rXJTjAu6aQ

I really want the 9/11 cheese plate (http://t.co/olrMqwyzrz) but I worry it won't fit on the table with my Jonestown Massacre punch bowl.

The 9/11 Museum's 9/11 themed cheese plate may make some cheddar but it's no gouda. http://t.co/Ki7kd2KovU

Going to 9/11 Memorial? Don't miss gift shop's cheese plate; be reminded of attacks while enjoying a nice Gruyère: http://t.co/vWAK9na1PW
