Clayton Lockett, convicted of shooting a 19-year-old woman and watching his friends bury her alive, was scheduled for execution at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Two reporters covering the execution say that things didn’t go as planned, prompting a 14-day stay of execution for Charles Warner, convicted of the rape and murder of his roommate’s 11-month-old daughter.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is taking a lot of heat for the botched execution.
I am disgusted with my home state tonight. If you voted for Mary Fallin, you have some soul searching to do.
— Joshua Umar (@joshumar) April 30, 2014
#OK @GOP Governor @MaryFallin went out of her way to kill a man tonight, and the results were absolutely horrifying. #EndTheDeathPenalty
— Tyler Lopez (@tyler_lopez) April 30, 2014
Tiny edit MT @mjs_DC: @MaryFallin is an ineffectual, brutal, bigoted, outdated, morally perverse, and grotesque governor #EndTheDeathPenalty
— Tyler Lopez (@tyler_lopez) April 30, 2014
Governor Mary Fallin from Oklahoma should be sued by the DOJ & removed from office immediately after the botched execution she pushed for.
— Matt Murphy (@MattMurph24) April 30, 2014
Clayton Lockett's tortured blood is on Governor Mary Fallin's hands.
— Justin Miller (@justinjm1) April 30, 2014
Mary Fallin has now failed to stop 17 people from being executed. #Tonight's execution was an act of murder.
— Johnny Lombardi (@MapleLeafJohnny) April 30, 2014
So Okla. Gov. Mary Fallin and state lawmakers essentially ordered that a man be tortured to death tonight http://t.co/ayIO4xjc5P
— Will Bunch (@Will_Bunch) April 30, 2014
@dankmtl This is god damn monstrous. Mary Fallin should be tarred and feathered.
— Adam (@EvilOmarVizquel) April 30, 2014
The American death penalty kills innocent people, is demonstrably racist, and in Oklahoma, is now administered via torture. It is 2014.
