Many have called for servicemen to be armed on base, but Autumn Manning has a special perspective: her husband, Staff Sgt. Shawn Manning, was shot six times by Maj. Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood in Nov. 2009. Hasan has since been sentenced to death, but that didn’t prevent a second mass shooting at Fort Hood, where servicemen found themselves rendered helpless, again.
Autumn Manning is asking for not only prayers for the latest victims, but also for soldiers to be allowed to carry arms on base.
@WWWife I can't believe no one learned from Nov 5. Thoughts and prayers with you and the other families

@WWWife This has to be a painful reminder of what you all endured

Manning isn’t alone in her beliefs.

#FtHood personnel told to shelter in place. Ironically, Texas civilians are better armed than are soldiers on a post. #tcot

It’s beyond silly our soldiers can’t be armed back home.

Soldiers at Ft. Hood should be allowed to be armed! Good grief, it's ridiculous!

Someone please explain to me WHY we restrict our soldiers from being armed on bases. This makes me so frustrated and sad. #forthood
