It was a kinder, gentler Alec Baldwin than many of us are used to, and just minutes into the premiere of MNSBC’s “Up Late,” even Howard Kurtz was wondering where the Twitter meltdown was. Instead, MSNBC viewers were treated to an hour-long interview with New York mayoral candidate Bill De Blasio, whom Baldwin introduced as his early choice for mayor. That’s no fun.
Alec Baldwin declared he was an early de Blasio supporter, so this interview is not exactly an interrogation

Is this a love letter from Alec Baldwin to Bill de Blasio? #MSNBC #UPLate
— Leslie Laurence (@leslielaurence) October 12, 2013
Yes, a love letter to Bill De Blasio set in a fake diner.
MSNBC built Alec Baldwin a diner set! pic.twitter.com/RN0NXa7MQq

I don’t get it, why is the set of Alec Baldwin’s show a diner, except it’s clearly not a diner at all?
— vmn (@vmcny) October 12, 2013
I would pay significant amounts of cash for Tina Fey to roll into Alec Baldwin's diner on skates and start taking late-night pancake orders

Appears that Alec Baldwin's new @MSNBC show is set in a Brooklyn steak house? why not! A + on format so far @uplatewithalec

For something that was designed to be used for a TV show, this set for Alec Baldwin's MSNBC show makes no sense.

Up Late w Alec Baldwin the only thing that could make set more depressing would be a homeless lady pushing a shopping cart in the background

Shouldn’t he be wearing a hair net if he’s going to be working in a diner on Friday nights?
What is going on with Alec Baldwin's hair?

Soft tones, diner booths, and a whole lot of other strange stuff on MSNBC right now.

This new Alec Baldwin show on MSNBC is just what I needed to cure my insomnia.
— REEquality (@ReeAmilcarScott) October 12, 2013
MSNBC commercials played up Alec Baldwin as an unpredictable cable news rebel. But he's going for "serious journalist" Alec & well, zzzzz…
— Max Weiss (@maxthegirl) October 12, 2013
Watching Up Late with Alec Baldwin. Kinda boring actually.
— Kevin Spencer (@kevin_spencer) October 12, 2013
I hope @MSNBC cancels the Alec Baldwin show. BORING. And the debut was only about NYC. Thought it might be interesting. Nope.
— Isaac M. O'Bannon (@imobannon) October 12, 2013
@msnbc I thought Alec Baldwin would be doing national stuff. A whole hour of De Blasio is ZZZzzzzzz
— WayneEdH (@WayneEdH) October 12, 2013
Alec Baldwin is weird and uninteresting when not reading other people's words . Like, this show is powerful boring

This Alec Baldwin show is like a really long unfunny SNL segment. SO basically, like 80% of SNL segments.
