Twitchy told you Wednesday about Chris Cox, the South Carolina man who showed up at the Lincoln Memorial with a push mower and got to work cutting the grass. Today, Rep. Darrell Issa recognized Cox, “an American Patriot and one-man member of the Monument Militia,” for his efforts by reading a statement into the Congressional Record.
“Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an American who has shown enormous commitment to our country and veterans during this stalemate in Washington,” Issa said, praising Cox for his American spirit and his “attitude of perseverance our Founding Fathers demonstrated in the face of adversity.
“Patriotic acts, like the ones recently displayed by Mr. Cox, serve as a great reminder of how Washington should conduct itself in this frustrating time.”
Recognition from the House floor is quite an honor, but that wasn’t the end of the praise for Cox and his mower.
Thank you @DarrellIssa !!! You are a true American!
