The Denver Post’s recent dramatic front-page photo of oil leaking into the flood waters of Colorado was perhaps a little too dramatic.

Via the Flint Report and the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, that ominous oil spill wasn’t oil at all:
Synergy Resources, owner of the wellsite JH the Wolfson 26-6, reported below by the Denver Post, has confirmed that what appears to be oil in this picture is actually flood water and no oil or condensate spilled at this site. Synergy Resources is in the process of readjusting the equipment, and restoring the site.
A much larger problem remains untreated wastewater from broken sewage lines, though the Post might want to look into cleaning up its own mess before it spreads any further.
