President Obama has no shortage of celebrities to call on when he needs to raise funds or promote unpopular legislation, but dedicated lefties like John Cusack have long since given up on the hope and change promised in 2008. Occupy organizer and Huffington Post contributor Max Berger caught Cusack’s attention today with his criticism’s of the NSA’s surveillance efforts, which have overstepped legal boundaries thousands of times a year, according to a recent audit.
One of the reasons I supported Obama over Hillary in 08 was I thought he'd be better on civil liberties. Now, I feel stupid.

@johncusack @maxberger Why would anyone think Obama would be better on civil liberties? Bit of advice-watch what he does, not what he says.

If it’s any consolation, it looks like disenchanted Obama supporters will get another chance to vote for Hillary.
Are there still liberals or progressives defending Obama on NSA stuff? If so, wow. Just wow.

Yeah –sick “@maxberger: Are there still liberals or progressives defending Obama on NSA stuff? If so, wow. Just wow.”

Even supporters of the NSA’s mission have to admit the agency is doing it wrong, intercepting phone calls from Washington, D.C., rather than Egypt because of a one-digit typo.

@johncusack @maxberger Really fucked up. I hate that so many "liberals" actually care more about the politics of the moment than principle.

@johncusack @papicek @maxberger Hillary will be the same. She is an insider to this administration and the obvious heir.

@johncusack @maxberger Assaulted, yes. Totally & utterly violated, even. And taken for a fool by the reasoning they give for collecting info
— Space Princess (@Susan_Hansen) August 16, 2013
@johncusack @maxberger You're not necessarily wrong. Just remember that in 2016. And yes I feel assaulted too.

@johncusack all politicans are hopeless…no good ones out there at all…
— Kizmiazz (@Kizmiazz) August 16, 2013
@johncusack @maxberger Get prepared for another Republican president. I predict a quick 4 year stint with lots of damage.
— Mike Maxwell (@mikemaxwellart) August 16, 2013
OK. “Lots of damage” sounds like an improvement at this point.
