While Sen. Tom Corburn (R-Okla.) can empathize with the plight of the poor seeking a better life in America, he fortunately voted today not as a hypothetical illegal immigrant but as a senator sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Coburn was among those voting not to move forward with the Corker-Hoeven amendment to the immigration bill.
Blunt, Burr, Coburn, Cornyn, Cruz, Fisher, Johnson WI, Shelby, Thune, Toomey, Vitter Sessions, against cloture.

There are 48 billion reasons not to move forward with the legislation, but Coburn touched on an essential truth in his statement on the floor this afternoon: the amendment flies in the face of the law.
.@TomCoburn is criticizing the #immigration bill from the standpoint of the Rule of Law.

The #immigration bill has so many holes it allows DHS to waive almost everything it calls for: "the rule of rulers." @tomcoburn

Coburn: Giving (Napolitano) ability to waive Border security is not 'Rule of Law.' It is Rule of Rulers. #StopAmnesty #RedNationRising #ocra

Coburn: This Amendment gives a non-elected official ability to waive all border security requirements. #StopAmnesty #ocra #RedNationRising
