Well, that settles that. GOP Gov. Chris Christie (who also happens to have an ongoing bromance with President Obama) will name neither a Republican nor a Democrat (nor Geraldo Rivera) to New Jersey’s now-vacant senate seat. Instead, the state will hold a special election in October to fill the seat left by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

So Gov. Christie has decided to hold a special election 3 weeks before his election? This sounds like a very "Fiscal Saving Move"…#BS

Christie splits baby: D's get speedy special elex (could have waited 18 mo),GOP likely gets placeholder Sen & no Booker on ballot in Nov

Christie today said that “the issues facing the Senate are too important and too vital not to have an elected representative” fill the seat. Christie was perfectly within his rights to name a replacement, but he’s waiving that right, along with what was left of his credibility with conservatives.
So sounds like I am no longer alone in the Chris-Christie-is-dead-to-me club.

Dick Armey not exactly pleased with Chris Christie's move here. accuses him of "debilitating stupidity" on CNN

If Republicans are generally guilty of overreach, Christie may be guilty of underreach.

Establishment NJ GOP types wary of running/running their friends in August since low turnout could lead to tea party disaster

@robertcostaNRO Would be nice if the Establishment GOP would fight harder against Democrats than they do tea partiers.

Don’t be too hard on the governor. Remember that time he won a stuffed bear for President Obama on the boardwalk? That was so sweet.

No doubt Christie has decided to be a nt'l candidate in '16. Today's move is to protect his Nov. margin of victory. #NarrativeProtection

Gov Christie said he wasn't ready to run for pres in '12. Since then he's done everything possible to prove he was right. #tcot

Please, don’t give him any ideas. Those two are cozy enough already, thanks. At least New Jersey might have dodged a Sen. Springsteen or Sen. Bon Jovi.
