It took 40 years for Harvard to welcome back the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps to campus, but the university anxiously rolled out the red carpet for Korean rapper Psy tonight. Psy, who came to the United States originally to study at Berklee, returned to South Korea to pursue a music career and participated in an anti-American protest where he sang about killing the families of U.S. troops slowly and painfully.
Psy has since apologized for that performance, and Harvard seems much more forgiving than it was when former president Larry Summers theorized that gender differences might be responsible for the larger pool of men studying to enter high-end science and engineering positions. Some things can be forgiven.
