This is a downer. Twitchy had reported that former Congressman Tom Tancredo would spark up a joint after losing a bet over the passage of Colorado’s Amendment 64 legalizing recreational marijuana use, but it turns out he was just blowing smoke. 9News is reporting that Tancredo will pass on the doob so as not to set a bad example for his grandchildren. Tancredo explained in an email:
I am especially concerned that the publicity may cause my grandkids to have to justify my actions to their peers and afraid that no matter how many times I say I am NOT condoning the use of marijuana, that that message will not get through. My grandchildren are extremely precious to me and I would never want to do anything that puts them in a difficult situation.
Kudos to Tancredo for playing it straight, but next time he should just say no.
