ABC and the Washington Post have just released the results of their joint tracking poll, showing Mitt Romney with a 1-point lead over Barack Obama. If that sounds close, consider that those are the rounded numbers; it’s actually closer.
you want close? new @ABC/@PostPolls tracking has it Romney 48.51, Obama 48.44. rounds to 49-48, but that's 7-hundredths of a point split

The poll, which sampled 1,382 likely voters, was conducted Friday through Monday, before last night’s third and final presidential debate. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percent.

Romney has the edge with likely voters on his command of the economy. Is it the economy again, stupid? Focus groups consulted after last night’s foreign policy debate certainly seemed to think so.
Asked about trust on the economy, 50% of likely voters say Romney, 45% Obama, first apparent edge for either candidate http://t.co/DRQrSAoG

On the number one issue of the economy, political independents break for Romney by a 12%-pt margin. http://t.co/DRQrSAoG

The breakdown of the sample gives Democrats a +5 advantage: 34 percent of respondents consider themselves Democrats, 29 percent Republican and 33 percent Independent. That’s right: Independents outnumbered Republicans in the survey sample.
Has Romnesia had any adverse side effects on Mittmentum? It doesn’t look like it.
