As news of a shooting at the Family Research Council spread this morning, many buying into the Left’s idea of the FRC as a hate group were content to tweet that the the organization “had it coming.” It didn’t take long, though, for the rhetoric to take an even uglier turn, with an emerging “truther” movement suggesting that the whole event — in which a security guard was shot and wounded — was staged.
This is how much I distrust FRC: what if this shooting was set up? Nobody killed, but great press for 'dangerous gay agenda.' I'm crazy.

Um, “great press”? Wouldn’t the media have to cover the story first for it to qualify as great press?
@PJMedia_com FRC probably staged it to get attention.

Got kinda ill looking at HuffPo. Opportunity to reiterate that FRC is a "hate group", speculating it was staged.

I smell a rat… @FRC shooting was INSIDE JOB to me, false flag, typical cointelpro, Hitler did this to make himself look good.

I've hired a PI to look into the @FRC shooting, sorry but I ain't buying it, He was carrying a @chickfila bag? COME ON! TOTALLY STAGED!

People, a lone gunman WITH A CHICK-FIL-A bag and supposedly saying political statements at family research council… LOL YEAH RIGHT.
— Jose Soto (@therealjosesoto) August 15, 2012
Family Research Council shooting was a politically motivated stage event to demonize pro-gay marriage people and our allies. Simple.

Authorities have identified the shooter as 28-year-old Floyd Corkins of Virginia. Little more than that is known about the shooter at this point, but the FBI is investigating to determine if the shooing was an act of domestic terrorism or a hate crime.

Update: Reports tonight say that Corkins had been engaged in a six-month deep-cover infiltration of the DC Center for the LBGT Community — otherwise known as staffing the front desk as a volunteer.
