Tom Davis, who along with writing partner Senator Al Franken was one of the original writers of “Saturday Night Live,” died today of cancer at 59. He is credited with the creation of such characters as the Coneheads, medieval barber Theodoric of York and Irwin Mainway (of the Johnny Space Commander mask).
