For years I have argued, rightly so, that one of the big reasons Donald Trump is president today (and was elected president in 2016) is largely because of the media and the Democratic Party. This isn't just the usual bipartisan contrast, either (because certain factions of the GOP also played a role in this, but that's a topic for another column).
There was, and remains, a fundamental rot in the Democratic Party that they seem wholly uninterested in addressing or excising from their midst.
That rot is what's led the Democratic Party to warmly embrace the trans issue, illegal immigration, soft-on-crime policies, and a slew of woke ideology that puts them firmly out of touch with the majority of American voters. On top of that, the driving force behind everything they do can be summed up in three words: ORANGE MAN BAD.
Make no mistake: absent President Trump, the Democratic Party would still embrace the radical, dangerous, and unpopular positions they currently hold. All President Trump does is throw their insanity into sharper relief, because the merest mention of Trump turns them into sharks in chum-infested waters.
Even though the Democratic Party has made no moves to moderate itself, moderation will come for them regardless, because there must be a reckoning over their cover-up of Joe Biden's infirmity. And that reckoning is a second Trump presidential term.

The Biden dementia issue is surfacing again with the arrival of the book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.” The authors are journalists Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson of Axios, and our guess is that most Americans will look at the title and say: Now they tell us.
The killer anecdote is supposedly that Mr. Biden didn’t recognize George Clooney at a June 2024 fundraiser co-hosted by the famous actor. Mr. Clooney and others at the event were reportedly aghast. But why only then?
Americans could see with their own eyes for years that Mr. Biden was going downhill fast. He often stumbled or fell. He couldn’t remember names. He often looked lost in public appearances and had to be led offstage. The polls all said even most Democratic voters wanted a different nominee. Yet only after the June 27 debate meltdown did elite Democrats decide that old Joe had to go.
After the June 27th debate and Joe Biden's ouster, the Democratic Party also ignored the wishes of their voters by tolerating Biden's nomination of Kamala Harris to replace him as the 2024 candidate.
Kamala Harris was rejected by Democratic voters, and resoundingly so, in 2020. She dropped out before Iowa, having failed to secure even a single delegate. And in 2024, the majority of the votes she did garner were not die-hards who loved Harris. They would vote for anyone with a (D) after his or her name (or against Donald Trump).
And the Democrats thought this would work?
But I digress.
Suppose the Democratic Party wants to stop Trump and have any hope of regaining Congress or the White House. In that case, they have to return to sanity, and part of that return is holding themselves and the media accountable for covering up Joe Biden's decline.
It wasn't merely hiding the fact that Biden has applesauce for brains. It's the fact that unnamed officials were making policy decisions, their fingers on the nuclear launch button, and running this country without the knowledge or consent of the American people. This shadow government's incompetence oversaw the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that killed 13 of our service members, stranded Afghan allies and women at the mercy of the Taliban, and gifted the terror group we spent two decades fighting -- at the cost of billions of dollars and far too many American lives -- millions in military equipment.
It passed the intentionally misleading 'Inflation Reduction Act' -- an Orwellian way to shove a version of the Green New Deal down the throats of unwilling Americans. So while we watched the prices of everything skyrocket, the Biden admin shrugged and crowed about how Bidenomics worked for everyone.
Then there's the pardons, not just of Hunter and the Biden family, but thousands of others -- including bad actors and the murderer of two FBI agents.
It was the biggest, most dangerous scandal in American presidential history.
If the Democrats hope to improve their 21% approval rating, there must be accountability. Real accountability.
Jake Tapper's book isn't enough. Finger-pointing isn't enough. Screaming 'But TRUMP!' isn't enough.
And attempting to sweep all of this under the rug because the Democratic Party and media likely also covered up the fact that Joe Biden had cancer throughout part of (if not most of) his presidency is only going to make things worse. Joe Biden has advanced cancer, but Jill Biden does not. Nor does Hunter (who continues to hide in South Africa, if I understand correctly). Kamala Harris doesn't have cancer, nor does KJP, Jen Psaki, Nancy Pelosi, Jake Tapper, or Alex Thompson.
Every single one of these people is directly responsible for Trump's reelection. And they will continue to be responsible for keeping the Democratic Party out of power until the party faces real and lasting consequences for their role in the Biden cover-up.
One day, the light bulb will come on.
Today is not that day.
And tomorrow doesn't look good, either.
