Trump is either intensely stupid or he doesn't care about abortion. Likely both.

For the-can’t-make-this-up-file, Donald Trump has yet another position on abortion, telling CBS’ John Dickerson in an interview set to air on Sunday that the “abortion laws are set. And I think that we have to leave it that way.”
Trump, who calls himself pro-life, to CBS on abortion policy: "the laws are set. and I think we have to leave it that way."

Trump has no clue what states rights means in the context of abortion. None.

Will Trump again "clarify" before program airs?
Vegas books have limited betting on it because it's almost certain. https://t.co/RwKTBwu5sZ— Jon Ralston (@RalstonReports) April 1, 2016
Trump also had a new excuse for his first answer on abortion where he said he would punish the mother if abortion were made illegal, saying he was “told by some people that was an older line answer and that was an answer that was given on a, you know, basis of an older line from years ago on a very conservative basis”:

Exit question: Why wasn’t he prepared for it this time?
I don't understand the mentality of someone going into an interview, knowing a subject will come up, and simply not preparing. It's insane.

Update 2. This is a good point:
But true conservatives believe judges don't make law.
