Two of the emails released tonight by the State Department caught our eye. They’re both from Sidney Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton but we don’t know much about them because they’re classified.

Here’s the first one:

The subject is, “Fw: H: some intel on internal german/euro manuevering. Sid.” The body of the email, which is some sort of report Blumenthal sent to Clinton, has been redacted in its entirety:

Here another now classified email from Blumenthal, this one comically shows an AOL ad on the bottom:

So, how did Blumenthal come to possess this classified information in the first place? He wasn’t a government employee at the time and and Clinton was specifically told not to hire him:

Sounds like a smoking gun to us. And the next step…

It sounds like Jennifer Granholm and Dianne Feinstein are ready to throw someone under the bus to protect Hillary

      • fuzzball

If she had done something really wrong she would already be under indictment. The problem is the right wing just deals in hyperbola and not facts. So far she has not violated any laws. Ask eight Congressional investigation, having spent millions of tax payer dollars why they have not formally pressed charges.
Why? Because there are millions of e-mails, many on private servers that have disappeared under the Bush administration. Maybe because there were over a dozen attacks on US consulates and embassies during the Bush administration with many American dead that were never investigated. Why open up a can of worms when you will only prove how biased your investigations are? Of all the candidates, Hillary is probably the most honest. The GOP talks of “tax reform” and every study, even by the CBO has shown that they are are geared toward more money to the top 1% and less to the middle class..The GOP forced sequestrating, it was thought to be a so bad no one would want it. But it was just what the GOP needed to control its spending. Military preparedness is affected, not because of Democrats, but because of the GOP. If you raise taxes 1% across the board that would be $30+ billion a year.

        • WillyPs

So you are suggesting Hillery is completely innocent because … Bush did it too?

          Novel idea.

Someone should tell Hillery about this vast right wing conspiracy. She could use it as an excuse.

          • fuzzball

That is a ridiculous comment. It is clearly a right wing conspiracy, and some of the Republicans on the committee said that it was designed just to go after her. If it was about the use of private servers, or about classified e-mails or about missing e-mails, then they would be investigating the Bush administration too as they are guilty of the same thing and worse.. Since they are not it proves it is just a GOP election year gimmick. I wonder how many senators and congressmen send classified e-mails on private servers? This type of clearly political in nature investigation opens the door for many more politically motivated investigations.

    • Republicanvet

Given the news today of the WH confirming she had classified information on her unsecured bathroom server, I cannot fathom how they could not indict her.
They may as well just remove any law regarding any classified information for anyone with a D after their name.
There are still mouth-breathing nitwits that say it doesn’t matter for her if the emails were not marked as classified. If that’s the case, then it means she is too incompetent to handle ANY classified material because she cannot recognize it when she sees it, and fails to report a breach if she did recognize it.
I just wish the media were harshly questioning Obama on this as they would any Republican president if they had such a criminal as SecState. So far he has been getting a free pass.

      • Zhytamyr

By right (and by law) she should’ve already been frog marched out of her residence and sentenced to a couple hundred years in a federal prison. Our benevolent ruling class can’t be troubled even to keep up the illusion of a lawful republic. Things will get sporty, directly.

        • moodydon

I agree… but I would add that given how long Hillary was S of S and that there were 60,000 e-mails, it maybe the case they are still looking/reading all of them..
Or it could/would be Hillary lied about the 60,000… and the number is closer to 100k or more… and then you need to look at Huma’s part… and any others who were a part of the inner circle…
I think they have enough to get her on a single thing… but this could end up be a several thousand count indictment, with multiple players/perps…
You want the FBI to be thorough, right?
We want to know everything, right?
And then there is the Clinton Foundation and monies received while Hillary was S of S… this could end up with Bill and Chelsea doing perp walks too…
Libs head will explode and Conservatives will be dancing in the street… and then the tussle between Joe and Lizzie to replace Hillary…

          • Arttie the Deplorable

          • moodydon

            Yes indeed… !!!!!

          • fuzzball

And there are millions from the Bush administration most from private servers. So if it is so bad why are not those others included?

          • moodydon

First, I would ask to cite your source(s) about Bush and how his people conducted their business.

Second, I’d ask what were the ‘rules’ under Bush.

Third, I’d ask how Bush is relevant to this conversation. And would you ask the same question about Bill Clinton and his administration? Or is this a ‘Bush did it too’ gotcha moment?

Fourth, I’d point out the Hillary was out of office for some 2+ years and still she hadn’t turned over all of her correspondence and records from her time as S of S.

It’s 3 years now and we are finding out how much was hidden from congressional oversight, public oversight, etc. And I would add we have learned what the ‘rules’ are for handling all government business.

Hillary setup a private server and e-mail system to hide her actions from her boss, Obama, to hide from her actions from Congress and public watchdog groups, and to conduct business that may be criminal in nature… or at least very questionable…

          • fuzzball

            Site the sources yourself!

Just one of hundreds…why do I have to do your homework?

The Bush White House email controversy surfaced in 2007 during the controversy involving the dismissal of eight U.S. attorneys. Congressional requests for administration documents while investigating
the dismissals of the U.S. attorneys required the Bush administration to reveal that not all internal White House
emails were available, because they were sent via a non-government domain hosted on an email server not controlled by the federal government. Conducting governmental business in this manner is a
possible violation of the Presidential Records Act of 1978, and the Hatch Act. Over 5 million emails may have been lost. Greg Palast claims to have come up with 500 of the Karl Rove emails, leading to damaging allegations. In 2009, it was announced that as many as 22 million emails may have been lost. The administration officials had been using a private Internet domain, called, owned by and hosted on an email server run by
the Republican National Committee, for various communications of unknown content or purpose. The domain name is an abbreviation for “George W. Bush, 43rd” President of the United States. The server came public when it was discovered that J. Scott Jennings,
the White House’s deputy director of political affairs, was using a email address to discuss the firing of the U.S. attorney for Arkansas. Communications by federal employees were also found on (registered to “Bush-Cheney ’04, Inc.”) and (registered to “Republican National Committee”), but, unlike these two servers, has no Web server connected to it — it is used only for email.

And it has a lot to do with this issue because it is using tax payer dollars for politcal gains, namely the GOP is dipping into the tax payers pocket for its own benefit. We now know Hillary is far more honest than ANY Republican.

          • moodydon

IF gwb43 was used for private e-mail that is allowed, as Hillary said.
IF gwb43 was used to conduct federal business, that is a violation of the rules.
            Which was it?
Dems had power in 2006… did they investigate? What was found? Were crimes committed and people put in jail?
Did Bush and others in his administration send classified materials using this private server,

          • moodydon

“And it has a lot to do with this issue because it is using tax payer dollars for politcal gains, namely the GOP is dipping into the tax payers pocket for its own benefit.”
            – – – – – – –
This investigation into Hillary’s e-mails is being done by the FBI, a part of the Dept. of Justice, where Loretta Lynch, is attorney general, who was appointed by Obama…
The FBI answers to AG Lynch.
            AG Lynch answers to Obama…
Exactly where in the flow chart of power, does the GOP appear?

      • Lizzyp

You forgot the little tidbit tucked into the end of the AP story- Obama is claiming Executive Priv. regarding 18 emails between the two of them. Remember, he said he didn’t have any idea that she didn’t use a State email account. ORLY?

        • Republicanvet

You’re right. Although it had been reported before that Barky had received emails from her private account, the media has always been careful to downplay it as if he didn’t know anything about it other than it being temporary.

…which may be a reason why this is dragging out. Does she have copies of email with classified information sent to him? If so, that would mean he didn’t report any security violation either.

      • fuzzball

Having had security clearance, I can assure you many items marked “top secret ” are already public knowledge. Case in point I was asked to price out a carbon fiber tool jig to manufacture a 40 foot by 3 foot piece of composite fabric. I was told not to discuss this with anyone else. The same time Aviation Week and Space Technology (AWST) magazine published an article about a spy drone with almost 80 foot wing span (this was in 1980’s). I went to contracts and said here is the cost for the tool for the spy drone wings. They wanted to know how I had knew what is was and I simply pointed out the article in AWST. Of course they were wrong to get alarmed, because that would mean I was right. Maybe I was guessing…Russia was reported back in the 70’s and 80’s to get several copies of AWST and fly them back to the USSR with translators aboard so they could have the latest information. Finally, another article about this current subject mentioned that the “top secret ” clearance was because it might prevent the President from getting open and frank information if the sources were to be known. Romney learned that lesson when he declared that 47% or so of Americans were on the public dole and not important thinking it was “secret”. I am willing to bet that 90% of all secrets are secret only to the American people. Russian, China, even our allies already know them. During WWII the Manhattan project was so “secret” that only the British, Germans, Japanese, Russians and many of the GI in the Pacific knew about it.

    • Republicanvet

I’ve been wondering about that, and whether the fire would come from ValJar. I can’t recall specifics, but I thought I read somewhere that she was the one who didn’t want Blumenthal in federal service. That was an order right from the start, so it makes me think it was likely because of something Sid did or said during the 2008 campaign.

      • ArmchairMike

Sid was Clintons hatchet man that dug up stuff on Obama during the primary in 2008. He just threw a bunch of shit against the wall that didn’t stick and Superfly didn’t like it.

        • Republicanvet

Again, that would explain why the order was given, and why it likely came from Jarrett. It wasn’t a suggestion, but an order that he was forbidden. I cannot ever recall an instance where the WH has given an order to one of their administration that a specific person is forbidden from working in their administration.
This also seems like the kind of slow, Chinese water torture drip of an investigation that one would expect from a politician that wants to make sure an opponent stays destroyed.

Hypothetically does this mean we now all get to rob banks, or steal state secrets, or extort corporations for hush money, or break whatever federal laws we want?

I mean if the laws don’t apply to them, under the 14th amendment then, they don’t apply to us either right? I can see someone on trial for breaking a federal law, using this argument in a court in the very near future.

Somewhere, sometime, some how, an example has got to be made to avoid a complete collapse of this government. I predict if the H-beast walks, that there may soon come a day when there will be white collar “occupy fed-gov” demonstrations inside the beltway, and that is NOT going to be pretty.

    • moodydon

      You are kidding right?
Working ‘out loud’ on a sarcastic musing for the Onion?

First, just having the private server and conducting government business, classified or not, is a federal violation. ALL correspondence, while Hillary was S of S is the property of the US government, both the business and private e-mails. Those correspondences go to a secure server and are stored. Kinda like all of Lois Lerner’s e-mails that nobody can find or are being destroyed…
Those are federal rules/law. There are penalties for not following the law.

And then by not conducting business using government servers, to prevent others, like Congress and watchdog groups from having FOIA access to all of the business conducted by Hillary, when she was S of S, is a violation of the law… Obstructing Congress is not allowed.

And you have an e-mail where Hillary ordered an S of S employee to ‘strip the classified marking off the e-mail,’ to cut and paste the contents to her over an unsecure e-mail / fax / whatever… that too is a violation of federal law…

      Those are the easy ones…

Accepting money for the Clinton Foundation from foreign governments, while Hillary was S of S could be seen a quid pro quo. That is bribery and / or very close to being bribery… And IF Hillary became POTUS and various US policies toward certain foreign governments changed, certain foreign governments that ‘made a donation’ to the Clinton Foundation, then you do have bribery…

Question: Do you want somebody as prez, who puts herself, her foundation, making money, seizing power, before country?

Question: Do want somebody who lacks morals, lacks ethics, who will lie to anybody about anything, plus is unqualified, proven by what happened in Benghazi, as prez?
