This morning, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz asked for his followers to join him in thinking about and praying for the victims of the severe storms that have impacted the Lone Star State over the weekend. There have been 11 reported fatalities related to the storm system that moved through the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Saturday.

The haters, set off by Cruz’s tweet, showed contempt for his sentiment and the victims of the storms’ destruction. Here are some of the nasty replies:
@tedcruz @NBCNews thoughts and prayers are a way of doing nothing and feeling good about it.

@tedcruz yup…thinking and praying…that ought to fix things right up. good job Teddy…this is EXACTLY what you were elected to do
— Latikia (@latikia) December 27, 2015
@tedcruz why are you praying after a storm when your God was the one who did it in the first place?

Yep. The New York Daily News will probably publish another cover like this one with several tweets from prominent Republicans featured:
Thankfully, many of the replies to Cruz were sympathetic to the victims of the Texas storms.
@tedcruz @NBCNews Texas thanks you Senator. I hope decent people everyehere will pray for the families of the lost.

@tedcruz we feel Texans pain throughout the Midwest, the not so cold yet north, and the flooded southeast. May winter's breath ease weather

‘Praying’ dismissed as ‘official GOP position’ on mass shooting while Dems demand a solution
Hateful hypocrisy: Progs slam ‘thoughts and prayers’ — except when it’s convenient
Will ‘thoughts and prayers’ detractor Sen. Chris Murphy call out himself and these other Dems?
