Sergeant Melissa Ruch of the West Penn Township Police Department is recovering from her injuries this morning after she was reportedly attacked by a motorist after she stopped to assist a disabled vehicle.
Apparently, this thug first slashed Sergeant Ruch’s shirt and then threw her over a guardrail during the attack:
Sergeant Ruch was then airlifted to the hospital:
A PennSTAR helicopter landed on a field at the intersection of SR309 and SR895 to transport officer Ruch to Lehigh Valley at Cedar Crest.

“Her shirt is like sliced from–we don’t know what it’s sliced yet from,” said Trooper David Boehm. “The person that we’re looking for is a Hispanic male, 6’2″ to 6’4″, 240 to 260 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans, the kind that go way down below your knees and possibly in a dark colored Nissan Maxima.”
