Geert Wilders, Dutch politician and outspoken critic of Islam, won’t be speaking at a scheduled event in Boca Raton, Fla. this August after all “due to potential safety concerns,” it has been reported.

Wilders was to have been the keynote speaker at a dinner of the Palm Beach Republican Party; however, once the management of Boca West Country Club learned of Wilder’s connection to the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas that was attacked by two jihadis, they canceled the event for safety reasons. “At the time the reservation for the dinner was made, no one in management or in the catering department at Boca West knew the identity of the keynote speaker,” the country club’s chairman of the board told the Palm Beach Post.

Earlier in the week, County Republican Chairman Michael Barnett told the Palm Beach Post that Wilders travels with his own security and the GOP had planned to hire its own security as well. “I’ve heard him speak before and with everything in the world going on with regards to radical Islamic terrorism, I thought it would be good to hear his perspective,” Barnett said.
