Remember that time two years ago when the Supreme Court “gutted” the Voting Rights Act and nothing happened? Well, not nothing. Mild-mannered Chris Hayes became “physically enraged”; Melissa Harris-Perry lost her citizenship; Bette Midler turned her clock back to 1859; and Minnesota state Rep. Ryan Winkler declared Justice Clarence Thomas an “Uncle Tom.”
Democrat strategist Donna Brazile is hoping that Saturday’s 50th anniversary observation of the Selma-to-Montgomery marches will inspire Congress to reinstate the right to vote to those disenfranchised by the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision.
That’s a beautiful poetic touch there, but can we back up just one tweet?
