The White House has condemned the attack at the office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that left 12 dead:
In 2012, after Charlie Hebdo published cartoons depicting Muhammad, the White House was among their critics.
At the time, then Obama Spokesman Jay Carney called the cartoons “deeply offensive” but “no justification for violence”:
