Via social media, organizers called for a national moment of silence Thursday evening to remember not just Michael Brown, the unarmed Ferguson, Mo., teenager allegedly shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer.
“We’re having a national moment of silence — one chord, one silent voice — to honor not only Mike Brown, not only Eric Garner, but all victims of police brutality, especially those who have lost their lives,” organizer Feminista Jones told USA Today.
The moment of silence and associated vigils truly were a national phenomenon.
