It’s October 1, the day when unicorns frolic across the land because the “Affordable” Care Act is finally here. Finally.
One Twitter user in California successfully navigated that state’s Obamacare website and was able to get an actual quote. Alas, the plans weren’t quite as affordable as promised.
No hope. And no change to spare:

That was for a family of 4. 2 adult. 2 kids.

@Beregond yep.
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
So @CoveredCA you want me to pay $742 a month in premiums and $5000 out of pocket before you kick in. Oh and 40% of unexpected costs?
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
Holy crap. People are going to be screaming to shut this down if they go into one of these exchanges. pic.twitter.com/elLahYlHUi
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
And with these high out of pocket expenses, ACA cut HSAs. #genius
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
Yeah. I think $95 and rolling the Dice is going to look mighty appealing.
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
You know why the rates are so high? Because they have to assume you are super sick. #prexistingconditions
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
If you have insurance you like, I'd recommend a defibrillator and a Doctor to observe you when you shop @CoveredCA
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
@JoanneBannister @gmaslsk Concierge care and cash looking more appealing. shame they banned catastrophic coverage
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
What if I just want a policy to cover catastrophic care @CoveredCA ? I'm pretty healthy.
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
“@BarackObama: "The Affordable Care Act is moving forward. You can't shut it down." uh. Not affordable pic.twitter.com/V4EULrnu4y
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
Unless that pig in the princess crown is going to chip in , that shit isn't affordable. And for crap care like Kaiser
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
See now here's where the Dems messed up. They promised gold but it's just pricey insurance.
— Amy (@AmyOtto8) October 1, 2013
Several other Twitter users had similar reactions:
@sqeptiq aca exchange insurance is 7x what I already pay lol. Good thing I'm locked in for two years
— #NeverTrump (@DefendWallSt) October 1, 2013
"@DefendWallSt: $996 a month for insurance? Seems affordable.". I would be looking at 2500 a month
— Crooked County IL (@CrookedCountyIL) October 1, 2013
I just checked out the cost of health insurance on the Florida Obamacare exchange. Looks like I'm going to have to cook some meth.

On the (questionably) bright side, the above tweets show that a few people were able to actually access Obamacare’s glitch-ridden health insurance exchange websites.
