That’s exactly what happened, as evidenced by this quote from President Obama at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland:
“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” Obama said.
President Obama: Bringing the world together by singling out certain groups for unwarranted ridicule and derision since 2009!
In front of an audience of 2,000 young people, many Catholics, Obama claimed that Catholic education divides people & blocks peace.

This Twitter user couldn’t contain her disgust:
Screw you, Obama #ProudCatholicGrad RT @DRUDGE_REPORT: President makes 'alarming call for end to Catholic education' http://t.co/hJgfAeQtBT

Love how Obama, who sat in Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright's church, has the balls to call Catholic education "divisive."
— don't come for me (@elisabethlehem) June 19, 2013
Catholic schools are divisive, but a president who paints Republican opponents as racist oppressors is the great uniter.
— don't come for me (@elisabethlehem) June 19, 2013
Catholic schools are divisive, but Obama who spends $100M on a vacation when there's 7.6% unemployment and 46M on food stamps isn't.

Obama pays women of the White House 18% less, but Catholic schools are the divisive ones.

I graduated from Catholic school and I've dated three Jewish boys and a Southern Baptist. Clearly reflects the whole divisive Catholic edu.

Maybe Obama should watch himself on TV more often and he'd recognize he's the divisive one, not Catholic schools.

My Catholic HS had a 0% dropout rate and everyone graduated with a GPA above 3.0. How many public schools provide that good an education?
— don't come for me (@elisabethlehem) June 19, 2013
I can see why Obama thinks Catholics are divisive, since they teach sexual modesty and see babies as gifts from God, not punishments.

Many others also voiced their outrage at the president’s remarks:
Let this godless moron POTUS keep coming after the Catholic Church & see how that works out for him. #KruiserFeelings
— SFK (@stephenkruiser) June 19, 2013
Obama spent twenty years enjoying Jeremiah Wright's racist blather and it's Catholic schools that are divisive? #IdiotKing
— Jim Jamitis (@anthropocon) June 19, 2013
You know what happens when you ASSume, @BarackObama? You look like an ass. YOU LOOK LIKE AN ASS FOR YOUR COMMENT ON CATHOLIC SCHOOL.
— Mary Chastain (@mchastain81) June 19, 2013
YOU'RE the great divider, @BarackObama. Not us Catholics. Our schools are open to EVERYONE. Even atheists.
— Mary Chastain (@mchastain81) June 19, 2013
IowaHawk handled it with his usual spot-on sense of humor and aplomb:
Catholic schools encourage division; as opposed to public schools that are against any kind of math.
