Veteran war reporter Richard Engel and his crew were freed by captors in Syria Monday after being held for five days. The NBC News chief foreign correspondent and his team are reportedly “safely out of the country” and the network says its employees were unharmed by the kidnappers.
Friends, media colleagues and concerned citizens waking up to the news expressed their relief on Twitter.
Engel and his team are expected to appear on the “Today Show” this morning.
