Good news for “Parks and Recreation” fans who also like Newt Gingrich: The former House Speaker will be making a cameo appearance on the show.
You might think this had been in the works for months, but no.
According to cast member Rob Lowe, Gingrich happened to walk by the comedy show’s set in downtown Indianapolis. On the spur of the moment, the cast and crew decided to create a new scene so that Gingrich could be included in the show.
Other tweeters confirmed Lowe’s account:
@olv Shot you guys an e-mail, but shooting at St. Elmo's steakhouse in downtown Indy. A scene was added for Newt Gingrich who was in town!

A few Twitter curmudgeons couldn’t set aside their political disagreements with Gingrich, not even for one moment:
.@RobLowe so you wrote a scene for the man who said there is a "gay and secular fascism in this country?" Why would P&R fans want that?

Random newt Gingrich siting on set. He's not even on the show. #GOP prick

People, chill. It’s just a TV comedy, for goodness sake.
