Yesterday our intrepid Twitchy team documented how the Connecticut Obamacare health exchange website had received 11,000 visits, but only enrolled 22 people in the first three hours. While we gently chided the program’s lack of popularity, we have egg on our collective face now, since the number of applications has zoomed to nearly two hundred! Well, not nearly, really. Closer to 170. But we’re willing to round it up to spare President Obama’s feelings.

Maybe more would sign up if they could actually load the website?

Wait … can Canadians sign up for Obamacare?

Hmm … better not mention the actual enrollment numbers there, representative.

Some people are grumpy just because their premiums are a lot higher — must be greedy capitalists!

Income? You didn’t build that!

You did say “affordable,” right?

Well, at least the prices are accur…

Oh. Well. Okay then.

I haven’t got any numbers but the local news here in Michigan said that the numbers were lower than expected and the website “Glitchy”.

Well, now there you go. You found the silver lining! A new word, “Glitchy” has been introduced into the lexicon.

i bet there will no glitchy delay in getting your deductible from you.

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil ✓Mate

Yes. All those new IRS troops agents will “help” you.

      • Stephen L. Hall

Will the new IRS workers be allocated new brown or black uniforms and pretty armbands with the Obama logo on them?

        • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil ✓Mate

They’ll start with brown, but those will soon be forced out by gray, and those will be terrified by the eventual black uniforms with white piping.

EDIT ** Almost forgot, Jackboots will be mandatory.

167/28,000 = .006% enrollment. Hooray!!! Sounds like a successful first day!

  • Taco Boutit

I live in CT. I was on there yesterday and didn’t have any trouble with the site itself. I did, however stare aghast.

For almost the exact same coverage that I have now, the premium is higher, and our employer wouldn’t be sharing in the cost.

    So where’s the benefit?

And I may be responsible for more than one of those eighteen thousand hits because I plugged in info for different people I know just to see what they would pay for theirs.

    • nc ✓s & balances

That’s even scarier. The real problem with OCare isn’t the glitchiness, it’s what happens after you sign up.

      • Diana

Or while signing up—-all your personal info. from various govt. agencies are at risk —the obamacare data “hub”. Is there any reason to go through the exchange if a person does not qualify for the subsidy? For me personally, I choose to purchase insurance directly from the company—not through the exchange. Some people are under the impression they have to go through the exchanges to buy health insurance —–I’ve even heard of people being pressured to buy insurance at the healthcare exchanges. Who are the people answering the phones, working with people on “live chat”—-do they understand how different medical plans work? ———Hopefully, people understand that while preventative care is covered at 100%—they have to pay the deductible out-of-pocket on most medical proceedures before the policy pays the co-insurance amount. One website listed questions people were asking about coverage through the exchanges—- sounded like they were under the impression that these policies would pay for all their medical bills.

        • nc ✓s & balances

No one has made it through the 12,000+ pages of regulations yet to find out what we can or can’t do.

        • Nancy

THEY ASK FOR YOUR ZIP CODE AND YOUR PREMIUMS GO ACCORDING TO WHERE YOU LIVE WOW

    • run4fun53

I live in CT also and tried to get on the site yesterday. I only got as far as where you had to put your personal info and decided I don’t want those people to have my name, email, etc. Trying to stay under the radar!

      • Taco Boutit

I didn’t do any of that. I just did the first page: county, age, and dependent status. Of course, now they have my I.P. address.

Oh wait. The NSA already gave them my I.P.

    • Rich K

The benefit is in knowing the IRS and the FBI will now know when your doctor last stuck his pinky up your backside to check your prostate.

      • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil ✓Mate

And as all things federal end up, the Fish and Wildlife Service, Dept of Education and Soc Security Administration will have the data and pictures too.

      • Taco Boutit

yeah he never found it, either. I’m a girl.

It was supposed to be a pinky? Why were both of his hands on my shoulders??

        • Karin_A

          OMG LOL

        • JustDon

          So… an Obamacare doctor, then?

    • Nancy

      OHOH TOO BAD FOR THEM

  • Clayton Grant

Most of the rates and deductables that are being quoted (on the sites that work) are already proving to be MUCH higher than before the “affordable” care act. In the next few months, you can bet those rates will be even higher still. Thanks Democrats!

    • Nancy

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR THEY DOUBLE I DID READ HALF WAY THROUGH LOTS IN THERE TNAT ISNT EVEN PERTAINING TO MEDICAL

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

“received 28k visitors, and took 167 applications for health insurance.”

    Look, Ma, a train wreck!

    • Karin_A

That’s just applications, too. Doesn’t mean it will end up with cold hard cash/good check changing hands. They’re payable just before Christmas. This bill will get “lost.”

      • Nancy

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE PART IF YOU DONT PAY ONCE IN WHAT HAPPENS IT IS REALLY SCARY AND SICKENING

  • o0Nighthawk0o

So less than 1% of the visitors that hit the page applied for insurance?? Only in liberal land is this a success.

Is this the new one percenters?

  • The Jackal

Just another shameless power grab by the Executive Branch of the Government. If you actually read the whole law you’ll see it is unconstitutional. This alone is reason to abolish it.

    • nc ✓s & balances

Take it up with John Roberts.

  • TocksNedlog

That’s probably one person for every $10,000 spent to create, administrate, operate, maintain and advertise the site.

  • Stephen L. Hall

Less than 200 out of 18000 sign up under the threats of fines and imprisonment, and they deem that a success.

  • Rich K

So I have to sacrifice 1% of my gross income to avoid this mess. I spend more money on beer and pretzels than that.

  • FilleGitane

Went on NY site. All I saw was overpriced sub-par insurance plans. Obamacare is going to turn out to be a bigger scam than green energy.

  • redheadgrl

167 out of 28,000? Isn’t that less than 1% conversion?

  • MarcusFenix

Well, I’ll give it this….it’s about double of what I expected, so there is that.
